New exhibition of work Nightstand in Real Myth exhibition
Opening days and times 23rd - 28th November from 11am - 6pm
Exhibition text:
Fascinated by the ideas of fact and interpretation, the artists included in Real Myth share an interest in the retelling and invention of a narrative. Their own willingness to suspend disbelief with such mythical stories draws them to find ways through which the perception of a place, object or person can be altered.
In this exhibition the artists will be exploring their own particular interest within the concept of myth across their varied practices.
Nightstand text
Using digital panoramic and focus stacking methodologies, together with previously used objects, Maxfield Weir attempts to recreate a narrative from a fictional person’s nightstand.
By providing such detail in a seemingly stark environment, the conflict between imagination and cynicism, which forms the acceptance of all myths, is ever present.
Yet it is through this conflict in acceptance that we have the freedom to play with the creation of our own myths. By oscillating between our notions of a cynical real and the imagined we can set the ways to approach our mythic reality.
